E-learning – How to set up a business

Follow the steps involved in setting up a company in video (in French!)

Follow Fred, Nejma and Honoré as they take you step-by-step through the process of setting up a business with 9 e-learning videos: project definition, break-even calculation, market research, customer and competitor analysis, defining your service offer or product prices, sales strategy, promotion and financial forecasting.

You’ll also have access to a toolbox (in french) to help you in every stage of your project. And at any time, you can contact microlux and ask for the services of a volunteer who will support you throughout your project.

Module 1 – Introduction

This first video is the introduction to the series. It introduces you to the 3 entrepreneurs Fred, Nejma and Honoré, and gives you an overview of the key stages in setting up a business, which will be covered in the following 8 videos.

Module 2 – My project and I

Have you decided to start your own business? That’s great, but you still have questions. Does your career plan fit in with your personal life? Take stock of your situation, examine your project and take stock of your strengths and weaknesses, so you can see things more clearly!

Module 3 – My customers

Do you know your customers? Who and how many are they? Where do they live? What do they like? etc. You may already have some intuitions, but check them out with a concrete analysis of your customers, so that you can meet their needs as effectively as possible!

Learn to identify your competitors! This will enable you to understand their techniques, adapt your products and services and position yourself more advantageously in the market. Who are they? How many of them are there? What do they offer and at what price? Who are their suppliers? What kind of advertising do they do? What are their strengths and weaknesses? etc.

Module 5 – Defining my offer and sales strategy

Now that you know your customers and your competition, it’s time to define the features of your products or services in detail. And how will you sell them? In a fix or itinerant location? Module 6 – Attracting customers and determining my selling price

In the previous video, you learned how to detail your products and services. Now it’s time to define your promotion method and selling price.

Module 7 – Estimating my sales

To make a living from your business, you need to generate sufficient income based on reasonable sales targets. This requires a realistic estimate of your sales.

Module 8 – Drawing up my financial plan

What is a provisional financing plan? This is the list of expenses and resources needed to get our business up and running.

How much could we spend? What do you do if you don’t know how to put a figure on an expense? What are fixed and variable costs? Are they all indispensable?

On the other hand, what are your resources? Do you have a personal contribution to invest in the project? If this contribution isn’t enough, do you have any other possible financial resources? Module 9 – Calculating my break-even point

The aim of this final video in the series is to explain the concept of break-even point. It lets you know at what level of sales your business is profitable.

What needs to be done to reach this threshold? Reduce expenses? Improve sales? Answering these questions will enable you to draw up an action plan to launch your business.
